You can plug a normal phone into the adapter, and then make or receive calls using that phone. The Zoom Phone Adapter is easy to install and use, but it's very powerful, especially if you choose to plug the adapter into normal phone service. Powerful bridging functions allow Skype calls to be forwarded to cell/mobile phones and other conventional phone numbers. This lets you use a mobile phone to make calls using Skype and save lots of money, or to receive Skype calls, making you easier to reach. Remote phones can also dial into the adapter to make outbound Skype calls.
